Litomyšl (Svitavy region) - Litomyšl should save approximately 21 percent on the construction part of the castle hill revitalization compared to the budgeted price. The designers calculated the costs at around 240 million crowns, and the procurement procedure was won by the Prague construction company Hochtief CZ with a price of nearly 190 million crowns. This was stated by the deputy mayor Radomil Kašpar (KDU-ČSL). "This is a significant reduction compared to the budgeted price, but it is a relatively common phenomenon today. Anything we put to tender goes down by about 30 to 40 percent, companies need work," said Kašpar. A total of 14 companies applied for the tender, one was disqualified for not providing the required documents. Kašpar does not expect any objections from their side. A price around 190 million was also offered by four other companies. The winning price may still change slightly, as the construction company has one month to check all measurements and details according to the project. The city has been preparing the restoration of historical monuments since 2007. They received a 100 percent subsidy from the European Union for the project worth 400 million crowns. Seven buildings and four open spaces - the first courtyard, brewery, horse stable, riding hall, upper courtyard, carriage house, stable, park, Piarist college, Piarist church, and fore-castle - are to be renovated by 2013. The project is the largest investment in the modern history of the city. The city hall divided the tender into two parts, construction and restoration. The deadline for submitting bids for the restoration of artistic items from the Piarist church of the Finding of the Holy Cross ends on May 12, with estimated costs of about 30 million crowns. The remaining funds from the grant, approximately 130 million crowns, are intended for cultural and exhibition projects related to the castle hill and their promotion.
