Ostrava - Renowned designers and architects will present themselves in Ostrava at the ninth PechaKucha Night on Saturday. This time, the organizers chose a very unconventional space for their presentation - the Evangelical Church of Christ, said Jiří Vicherek on behalf of the event's organizers.

"Every time a new venue, every time a surprise and inspiration, these are the foundations on which we build Ostrava's PechaKucha Night. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring the unique atmosphere of our evenings to the evangelical church and to showcase this place in a new light, altered context," said another organizer, Martin Lindovský. In the past, architecture, design, photography, and fashion have been presented, for example, in the Michal Mine or at the New Town Hall.
According to Lindovský, the integral part of the PechaKucha Night concept will also remain in the church - an afterparty with DJ Form, who will perform right under the altar.
The first PechaKucha Night took place in 2003 in Tokyo, founded by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham from Klein-Dytham Architecture. The event became a hit and began to spread around the world. It is still held in Tokyo today. PechaKucha Nights are regularly held on all continents in more than three hundred cities.
"Individual artists present their work in short presentations, and since about ten of them from various fields will perform during one evening, every viewer will find something for themselves," said Vicherek.
On Saturday evening, former art director of ČT4 sport Lukáš Veverka and director of the House of Arts in Brno Rostislav Koryčánek will be among the presenters.
"The project aims to introduce participants not only to interesting ideas and works but also to each other. Therefore, part of the program includes an informal afterparty, where audiences can meet and discuss with presenters and organizers," Vicherek reminded.
The event starts at 6:30 PM, with presentations at 8:20 PM. More information about the project can also be found on the website www.pkno.cz.
