Ostrov - This year, work on the repair of the roof of the former hotel Myslivna in Ostrov, Karlovy Vary, will be completed. The new roof will cost the city 6.5 million crowns, and it will also use a grant from the Ministry of Culture for it. At the same time, the city hall is preparing to renovate the entire building, in which it plans to build apartments. Jan Bureš (ODS), the mayor of Ostrov, told ČTK today.

The roof should be finished by June. The city has obtained a grant of 1.5 million crowns from the Ministry of Culture's fund for the preservation of buildings within city heritage zones. The roof is being completely reconstructed, including the roofing, damaged trusses, and the entire structure. Heritage officials are overseeing the construction work.

The costs of converting the entire building into apartments amount to 42 million crowns, which the 16,000-resident city will cover from its own budget. The city hall has already announced a tender for the contractor. It has prepared ten million crowns for the start of the reconstruction, which should begin this summer.

The city management expects the completion of the building with ten apartments and non-residential spaces in December next year. "The apartments are expected to be above standard, with three duplex apartments. We plan to keep them in the city's ownership and rent them just like we rent apartments in the monastery, as above-standard housing in Ostrov," Bureš said. According to him, the building will probably be given a new name, the White Courtyard Residence.

The unused building in the city heritage zone was purchased by the city under the previous administration, which planned to renovate and operate it as a hotel at its own expense. However, the project failed.
