Ostrov - The city of Ostrov has reserved five million crowns for the initial stage of the reconstruction of the former hotel Myslivna. The amount is planned to be invested in the building in the first three months of 2017. Preparatory work has already begun at Myslivna, and work on the project documentation is also reaching its peak, said Ostrov's mayor Pavel Čekan (ČSSD) to ČTK.
"The first work on the reconstruction has already started. It involves demolition work, where we had all three floors cleaned - that means the ground floor, the first floor, and the attic. Partitions, drywall, and everything that had been done there sometime in the 90s was removed. It is a preparation for the start of the reconstruction of this building and also for the construction of a small brewery," said Čekan. The regional beer is expected to become one of the attractions that will draw more tourists to the city.
The unused hotel Myslivna was purchased by the city a year ago for 10 million crowns with the intention of renovating it and starting to offer accommodation again. According to the mayor, the city lacks accommodation capacity for guests. The hotel will be operated by the city through a municipal organization, which will likely be established in the future for this purpose. Myslivna is located in close proximity to the Ostrov castle and is part of the city's heritage zone.
A study for the hotel reconstruction has already been prepared, and the completion of the project documentation is now waiting primarily for the opinions of heritage protectors. After that, the city will apply for a building permit.
