Open Letter to the Director of the Office of the City Architect of Brno

Dear Mr. Director,
allow us, as a group of young professionals from the fields of architecture, urban planning, and other public figures, to invite you to an open discussion about the current challenges facing the city of Brno. We live and work professionally in Brno, so the direction of the city is of great importance to us. We want to discuss together, shape our opinions, and actively contribute to the missing professional debate about the future form of the city.
After decades of disputes regarding the new location of the main train station, the city of Brno has undertaken a balanced evaluation of both options. Two urbanism-architecture competitions with different briefs have taken place. At the end of October 2017, the Railway and Transport Administration published the Feasibility Study for the Brno Railway Node, which states that both options for the station's location are feasible under certain conditions.
We have several significant comments and recommendations regarding your presented position on the station's location.
Through this open letter, we request the inclusion of two representatives from the GEN BRNO initiative in the official expert debates KAM and the panel of the planned public discussion "Modernization of the Railway Node in Brno – public debate," which is to take place on February 20, 2017, at 5:30 PM at the New City Hall in Brno. We believe that cooperation, mutual sharing of experiences, and representation of various opinion currents can contribute to the positive development of the city.
