Otrokovice - Otrokovice will open a new home for seniors this autumn. The first clients will be welcomed in November, with the construction itself likely to be completed by September. The building cost 132 million crowns, with 99 million obtained from the state budget, and the remainder covered by city resources. The new home will accommodate 82 seniors, said the city hall spokesperson Milan Plesar today. There is a lack of facilities of this type in Otrokovice and the entire region, which is supported by the fact that during the first few months after announcing the intention to build the home, the city recorded about 400 applications, and currently there are about 500. Furthermore, Otrokovice has a relatively specific demographic development for the region. At the time of building the then Red October, today Barum Continental, several thousand people within a relatively narrow age range moved to the city. These are the individuals who now require the services of homes. The facility will include not only regular beds but also a department with eight to ten places for people with Alzheimer's disease. There will be 56 employees caring for the clients. "We have already announced a tender for the filling of positions such as social worker, accountant, head nurse, kitchen manager, chef, nurse, occupational therapist, and maintenance worker," the spokesperson listed. The municipal contribution organization Senior also offers specialized professionals a fully equipped office with healthcare staff in the newly built Home for Seniors. "We want to utilize the office as much as possible so that healthcare professionals alternate here at certain intervals. We offer cooperation to a general practitioner, psychiatrist, geriatrician, psychologist, rheumatologist, and dentist," said the head of the Home for Seniors, Simona Malinová. The facility is being built in the local area of Bahňák, near the Společenský dům hotel, which is the site where pilgrimages used to be held. These will continue to take place in this location, with attractions spread throughout the immediate surroundings.
