Pardubice - The leadership of Pardubice wants to announce a tender for the renewal of the former Tesla site on Kyjevská Street as soon as possible, which has been abandoned since the 1990s. The city council could select a developer before the end of the year. CTK was informed by Mayor Martin Charvát (ANO).

"A developer needs to be selected as soon as possible so that construction preparation can begin. We already have several interested parties today. However, we will select the one who will rebuild the area through a public competition. In June, we will present a proposal to the council for announcing a tender for the company that will organize the competition," Charvát stated.
The actual redevelopment of one of Pardubice's brownfields can begin only after resolving the traffic situation in the area near the hospital, including the transport connection of Tesla to Kyjevská Street. The city first needs to connect Pod břízkami and Kyjevská streets, including the intersection near the ambulance. The road will serve as an alternative access to the hospital. After that, the construction of a roundabout in front of the main entrance to the hospital can commence.
"That will complete the approach to the overpass, and we will be able to proceed with the reconstruction of the overpass, which is in poor technical condition. At the same time, we would like to connect the overpass with the expressway," said Deputy Mayor Helena Dvořáčková (ANO).
"Although resolving traffic will take several years, the winner of the competition for the reconstruction of Tesla will need a lot of time to prepare for the actual construction. It is necessary for them to start designing as soon as possible," the deputy mayor stated.
According to her, the city will not strictly dictate what should be created at the former Tesla site. The public will also have a say in individual proposals.
"The city would prefer the creation of services here that would not compete with the regional hospital but complement its activities, such as a senior home or a long-term care facility. This area also lacks a larger store," Dvořáčková said.
However, the city will prefer to preserve the Telegrafie building, which serves as a noise barrier for the Pardubičky district. According to the assessment, it is in very good condition. The area will also need 600 parking spaces.
