Pardubice – The University of Pardubice today signed a contract with the developer, through which it will acquire a building for the Faculty of Health Studies. The school will purchase space in the premises of the former Tesla company. The new facilities will be created in the vicinity of Pardubice Hospital, with which the faculty collaborates, the university stated in a press release.
"We want to provide the faculty with additional space for development, moreover in close proximity to Pardubice Hospital, collaboration with which is crucial for the practical education of our students. Our plan has the support of the city of Pardubice and the Pardubice region," said rector Jiří Málek, who signed the future contract today.
The University of Pardubice is interested in the former Telegrafie building, which is the oldest structure in the entire industrial complex. The usable area of the two-story Telegrafie is approximately 3200 m². It will contain specialized laboratories, lecture halls, a smaller library, a study department, facilities for academic staff, meeting rooms, and a bistro.
The Faculty of Health Studies at the University of Pardubice currently shares a building with the Pardubice Secondary Medical School. It is located about 2.5 kilometers from the hospital and the planned new building. The current facilities and conditions for comfortable teaching are no longer sufficient for the faculty's development.
In the buildings of the Secondary Medical School, where the university has a 20% ownership stake, only a few workplaces would remain after the reconstruction of the faculty's new headquarters, and university lecture halls would continue to be used here. Relocation of the faculty will also allow for the development of the Secondary Medical School.
The future contract was concluded by the University of Pardubice with the company Linkcity Czech Republic. The company won the city’s tender for the revitalization of the former Tesla Kyjevská area. The plan includes building a residential part, a shopping center, parking spaces, and transport connections to the complex and the hospital.
