Pardubice - The leadership of Pardubice is considering how to deal with the dilapidated summer stadium and adjacent areas. The city had once wanted to renovate the stadium near the center with the help of a private investor, but the plans eventually fell through. The Department of the Chief Architect has now gathered eight proposals developed by the city or other entities on how to utilize the location in the future. Four proposals anticipate completing the block around the ČEZ Arena with a new hall featuring an ice surface and a parking garage. The other structures, including the summer stadium, would not be repaired and would gradually age and be demolished. Others suggest either renovating the summer stadium or building a new large sports complex next to the ČEZ Arena. One option proposes to replace the stadium with a multifunctional building for housing and civic amenities. In addition to these solutions, the proposals also include new constructions such as a gallery, a cultural and social center, or an art and dance school along the waterfront, residential development, a multifunctional hall, and a sports hotel. The Department of the Chief Architect has agreed to collaborate with the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague, which has assigned the area solutions to students as a pre-diploma project. The city expects the results in January of next year.
