The planned reconstruction of the Dejvice Theatre in Prague 6 is expected to begin in March 2025

Prague - The planned reconstruction and extension of the Dejvice Theater in Prague 6 is set to begin in March next year. The builders are expected to increase the auditorium capacity by about 50 seats and refurbish the facilities. The estimated costs are around 50 million korunas, and the construction could be completed in April 2026. This was communicated to ČTK by the spokesman for Prague 6, Marek Zeman. The district of Prague 6 is the founder of the Dejvice Theater. According to Zeman, it is not yet clear where the theater will perform during the construction.

According to earlier information, the plan involves extending the theater building on Zelená Street into the courtyard. In the newly added section, the builders will move the stage, which will allow for an increase in auditorium capacity. The current capacity of the hall is about 150 seats. According to Deputy Mayor Petr Prokop (STAN), the capacity of the auditorium will now be expanded by about 50 seats, and the reconstruction will also concern the theater's facilities, technological equipment, and air conditioning.

Dejvice Theater (DD) has long been one of the most sought-after and visited Czech theaters. Its first performance took place on October 14, 1992. It has had the status of a professional theater since 1993. Throughout its existence, DD has been named Theater of the Year six times, and its productions and individual artists have received significant awards. Every year, the name of Dejvice Theater appears in the nominations for the most prestigious theatrical awards.
