Pasohlávky - The Chinese company RiseSun, which is estimated to build a spa complex in Pasohlávky, Brno region, for around two billion crowns, wants to sell the land to Swiss funds. President Petr Pavel said this to journalists at the conclusion of his visit to the South Moravian Region. According to him, the region should buy back the land. Governor Jan Grolich (KDU-ČSL) stated that the investor has not yet decided to sell the project.
"I spoke with the governor about the Chinese investor's current effort to resell their property to Swiss funds. I do not know the details, but in relation to how the announced Chinese investments in the Czech Republic have developed and how China views our country today, I would consider it perhaps a reasonable solution if the region were to buy back the land and manage it again as a Czech owner, rather than negotiating with someone we probably cannot fully trust," said Pavel.
According to the governor's information, the investor is at a certain stage of the project ready to sell it. "Personally, I think that if it were to happen, the region should also consider the possibility of reclaiming the land. However, the investor has not yet made a decision on this matter, so we have not discussed it either within the region or with them," Grolich wrote in response to ČTK's inquiry.
The establishment of the Chinese spa has been discussed since the time of Governor Michal Hašek (ČSSD), then it continued under the previous governor Bohumil Šimek (ANO) and continues now under Grolich. The company Thermal Pasohlávky, which sold part of the land for the spa construction to the Chinese, aimed to fund the construction of a nearby sanatorium from the sale. The spa project has an zoning decision, and its completion is expected in 2027.
