At the invitation of SOFA, Prof. Ing.arch. Martin Rajniš has committed to conceive and lead the workshop Wooden Structures. The workshop will take place from June 10 to June 18, 2012, in the faculty courtyard.
Motto and goal of the workshop: Throughout all phases of the work, students will thoroughly familiarize themselves with various aspects of construction. A strong and cohesive team will simultaneously be created, capable of collaborating on a relatively complex division of labor. For a certain period, a working atmosphere reminiscent of a real medieval building workshop will arise. The goal of the workshop will be the construction of a wooden object in the FA courtyard. The wooden structure is a kit. A similar workshop led by Prof. Rajniš took place from April 10 to April 13, 2012, at the Catholic University of America (CUA) in Washington D.C., USA. The format of the workshop has proven successful abroad. Other Czech, Austrian, and German universities have already expressed interest in similar events. The Faculty of Architecture of VUT in Brno will become an initiator of this international cooperation, thereby contributing to the gradual return of Czech architecture to the European context.
How to apply: A motivational letter to [email protected] - briefly write why we should choose you and what experience you have working with wood. Deadline: June 1, 2012, by 11:59 PM. The application will include a payment of 500 CZK. Meals (lunch, dinner) will be provided several times during the workshop, and participants will be informed in advance.
