Prague - Prague 12 is requesting the city hall to commission a study for the future development of Komořany. This follows the approved resolution of the council. In this originally independent settlement, now a district with nearly 2000 inhabitants in the south of the metropolis, extensive residential construction is planned. The construction of a connection to the Prague ring road will also impact Komořany.

The future appearance of Komořany will be significantly influenced by the construction in the area of the former Modřany Engineering Works. "The area intersects with the very center of Komořany, and the possibilities for its transformation need to be thoroughly examined by the study," writes Deputy Mayor Daniela Rázková (KDU-ČSL/Change for Prague 12) to the city hall in her request for the study.

In addition to the engineering works area, construction will also take place on the brownfield around U Skladu street, and residential projects Komořanská, Modřanský háj, and south of the Prague ring road Šance are also in the works. According to the city hall, it is also necessary to create a central space for the future Komořany square.

"In connection with the planned development of the mentioned areas, it is necessary to verify the capacities, locations, and potential additions of necessary civic amenities, especially in the field of education, through a spatial study," the resolution further states. The study should also address the tram line to Komořany, public transport routes, and the system of cycle paths.

A road connection to the Prague ring road will also be crucial for the development of the area. In September, the council approved the design of the transport structure, estimated to cost 2.2 billion crowns. The district is requesting that the new road be partially narrowed to two lanes due to concerns about excessive traffic load and noise. The project should also involve a new intersection and require the relocation of the railway.
