Prague - Prague wants to have urban studies prepared for the areas around seven metro stations, covering stations on all three lines. This arises from a document that the Prague councilors are set to discuss on Tuesday. The Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) is to prepare the task for the urban studies by mid-December of this year. Prague also commissioned IPR to develop a document that prioritizes the condition and future of 11 metro stations. There are a total of 61 metro stations in Prague.

Among the seven priority stations are Skalka on line A, Luka, Lužiny, Hůrka, and Černý Most on line B, and Háje and Ládví on line C. In addition to the task for urban studies, IPR is to present a schedule and budget for their processing to the city. In cooperation with the transport company, it is to develop a proposal for modifications to the selected station, including suggesting a model for collaboration with a private investor.

Prague aims for better use of public spaces at selected stations. The vestibules are to be improved, with unnecessary objects or stalls being removed. The document also proposes the removal of illegal advertisements and stickers. This concerns, for example, the stations Lužiny and Luka. Graffiti is to be removed at Hůrka, where IPR also suggests the reconstruction of public restrooms. The urban study for Černý Most should focus on the arrangement of undeveloped areas along the metro line. Besides advertisements and graffiti, it is necessary to repair the vestibule structure and clean it from bird droppings.

At Skalka, the objects in the vestibule are to be enhanced, stickers and advertisements removed, and spaces around the artworks are to be freed up. Pedestrian crossings are to be added around the station.

In the case of Háje, the undeveloped areas surrounding it, the construction above the station, and the connection of the station to the Central Park are to be addressed. Háje is also to undergo overall modification, with damaged tiles to be repaired and signage improved. For Ládví, the study should address the vacant plots in the area. The modifications for Ládví are also advocated by the Prague 8 municipal office, which plans a complete reconstruction of the entire square near the metro station.

The document prepared by IPR, which deals with 11 stations, also includes Dejvická and Bořislavka on line A and Českomoravská and Karlovo náměstí on line B. The study contains information about the condition of each station, describes the adjoining public space, and also addresses the ownership structures of the land around the stations.
