Prague - Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague plans to invest almost a billion crowns in new educational buildings or an auditorium in the coming years. By the end of next year, it is expected to invest 600 million crowns. Currently, it is building a technology and educational pavilion for the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, and planning the construction of a tropical agriculture pavilion or a mini food production facility. This was reported to ČTK by the university spokesperson Jana Kašparová.

The pavilion for forestry students is already under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of next year. "The building will include a specialized teaching laboratory for remote sensing methods, as well as a laboratory for forest fire protection. The facility will also feature an educational environment created on the green roof of the building," says Kašparová.

By the end of next year, the university auditorium should also be renovated, which will cost approximately 180 million. "Both the interior and exterior of the building will receive a new look. A foyer and facilities for visitors, performers, and support staff will be added. The immediate surroundings will also undergo a transformation, with new plantings of mature trees, and the area will be equipped with new furniture," added the spokesperson. Workers are expected to start construction work this summer. The tropical agriculture pavilion is expected to cost 329 million crowns.

Another major project is an educational center for processing agricultural products. University students are expected to learn how to process meat and milk in the building; there will be a bakery, an experimental microbrewery, and technology for processing fruits and vegetables, as well as a tea and herbal press. The construction of the building will cost 253 million crowns, with an additional 101 million for equipment. The building should be completed by the end of 2022 at the latest. "A shop is also planned in the building, so it is expected that the products will be sold within the university campus," added Kašparová.

CZU is the third largest university in Prague, after Charles University and the Czech Technical University in Prague.
