Prague - Plicka Ivan was elected today as the chairman of the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA). This was stated by the chamber's spokesperson Zuzana Hošková. The board of ČKA also elected other members of the leadership, supervisory board of ČKA, and the Chamber Court of ČKA today.
Plicka Ivan was born in 1958 in Prague. In 1982, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he currently leads the Plicka-Sedlák studio at the Institute of Urbanism. He is engaged in urbanism and spatial planning, rural development, and also dedicates himself to private architectural practice. He has been a member of the working group for spatial planning, urbanism, and landscape in the chamber for three years. He is also actively involved in the issues of architectural competitions.
Plicka replaces architect Lešek Petr in the leadership of ČKA, who was elected this February after the sudden dismissal of Panna Josef; the chamber's board dismissed him due to disagreements with its leadership. Lešek did not want to run again, as he has long been dealing with the issues of architectural competitions and also has his own practice in the successful studio Projektil.
At the end of April, ČKA held a general meeting, during which new members of all self-governing bodies of the chamber were elected. Today, the chairmen and vice-chairmen of the ČKA board were elected from these members. Hnilička Pavel retained the position of first vice-chairman. Two new second vice-chairmen were elected, becoming Šafer Jaroslav and Salzmann Klára.
Last week, elections were also held for two other bodies of the chamber - the supervisory board and the Chamber Court. Rada Pavel retained the position of chairman of the board, and Šebek Václav was re-elected as the chairman of the Chamber Court.
