Prague - Ivan Plicka remains the chairman of the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA), a position he has held since 2014. This was decided by the chamber's board. All vice-chairmen, Pavel Hnilička, Jaroslav Šafer, and Pavel Martinek, also defended their positions in the chamber's leadership elections. Zuzana Hošková, spokesperson for ČKA, communicated this today to ČTK.
According to her, the elections confirmed the established direction and the chamber's effort to continue with the priorities that it promoted in the previous period. These include providing services to public administration and local authorities in public procurement, promoting architectural competitions, and strengthening the position of the city architect.
The spokesperson added that the chamber's role is also to promote the work of architects through the Czech Architecture Award, the first edition of which was announced in January. Authors could submit their works realized in the territory of the Czech Republic between 2010 and 2015 until mid-April. An international jury will select 50 works for the shortlist, which will be included in a catalog and presented at the nomination evening in June. Between five to ten will advance to the finals, with the winner receiving the main prize at the end of the year.
In recent days, elections were also held for two other bodies of the chamber - the supervisory board and the Guild Court. Pavel Rada successfully defended his position as the chair of the board, and David Mateásko was elected as the chair of the Guild Court.
