Hradec Králové - According to the draft of the new city zoning plan, a road should run through the factory of the prosperous engineering company ZVU POTEZ in Hradec Králové. Representatives of ZVU disagree with this, and around 500 people have signed a petition against it. Therefore, the city will have a study conducted to find a new route for the road. This was stated to reporters today by Deputy Mayor Jindřich Vedlich. The ZVU engineering complex is located in the city center next to the main railway station. Architects of the planned zoning plan wanted to connect the areas of Pražská and Koutníkova streets with a new road, which would, however, run directly through the key production hall of the engineering company. One of the options for the route of the new road, according to Vedlich, would be to move it closer to the area of the main station. "The study will give ZVU the opportunity to continue existing," added Mayor Zdeněk Fink. According to Vedlich, the study will serve as a basis for the proposal of the zoning plan, which the city will approve next year. In addition to the traffic through the ZVU area, the study will also address the entire space of the city west of the railway station. Representatives of ZVU and Czech Railways will collaborate on the study, which is expected to be completed in spring next year. The material is also supposed to address the problem of the underpass under the railway track, which is currently a bottleneck for vehicle traffic from the city center towards the west into Kuklen and to the D11 highway. According to Vedlich, two options are on the table: either widening the underpass or building another underpass not far from the current one. The proposal for the new zoning plan builds on the current circular layout of the city established by Josef Gočár's plan from the first half of the 20th century. The development axis is seen extending westward towards the Kuklen area near the D11 highway. The Hradec Králové city council decided to draw up a new zoning plan in June 2009. The city's development is expected to be guided by this plan for the next ten to fifteen years starting from 2015. Until now, the city has been following the zoning plan from 2000, which was designed for ten years.
