Brno - The project for the reconstruction of the unique Löw-Beer Villa in Brno has received a grant of 47 million crowns from the Regional Operational Program South-East. The project financing was supported by the Regional Council Committee, stated the spokesperson of the Regional Council Office for the Cohesion Region South-East, Kateřina Kurková. The Löw-Beer Villa will feature an exhibition on the beginnings of modern architecture. The building will take on the form it had during the time the family lived there. Visitors will see circuits focused on the history of the Löw-Beer and Tugendhat families, the work of architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, or life in Art Nouveau villas and the living style of that period. The reconstructed villa will have a library with a reading room and exhibition space for accompanying events and museum programs. There are also plans for the restoration of the garden and a possible connection with the Tugendhat Villa. The originally Art Nouveau villa was purchased by Alfred Löw-Beer in 1913 from the heirs of industrialist Moritz Fuhrmann on what was then Sadová Street. Alfred donated the upper part of the land adjacent to Černopolní Street to his daughter Greta, who married Fritz Tugendhat. The couple then built the world-famous functionalist villa there. In the area of tourism development support, the Regional Council Committee also approved an additional 15 projects in both South Moravia and Vysočina. Brno Zoo received funds for the construction of an exhibition for eagles and kangaroos, in Znojmo we will soon be able to stroll underground, and a new archeopark will be established in Mikulčice. The approved grant for 16 projects reached a total of 342 million crowns.
