Prague - The leadership of Prague 10 is unhappy with the appearance of more than twenty locations as proposed by the forthcoming new Prague zoning plan. The district council approved the comments today. Comments on the Metropolitan Plan can be submitted by local councils, residents, and companies from the end of June to the end of July. The plan, which will determine the future development of construction in the metropolis, is expected to come into effect in 2023.

City officials do not like the proposed future appearance of several places, including those significant for the development of the district. These include, for example, the currently neglected areas of Slatina and Bohdalec, where a new neighborhood is expected to be developed in the future. Others include the industrial area in Malešice, Trojmezí, Hagibor, or the vicinity of the Strašnická metro station, where according to the proposal of the Metropolitan Plan, an eight-story building could be constructed. Prague 10 does not agree with this. The city council also wants to reclassify some smaller areas into parks.

The leadership of the district categorically rejects the freight transfer facility, which the Metropolitan Plan, like the current zoning plan, places in Malešice."This is one of the fundamental comments we have on the proposal, just as we disagree with the proposed traffic connection from the grade-separated junction connecting the Slatina area with the South Connector across the railway track to the area of V Korytech, as this would burden that location with transit traffic. We also disagree with the proposed six-story construction in some places in the western part of Bohdalec," said Bohumil Zoufalík, the councilor for urban development of Prague 10 (Movement for Prague 10).

Comments on the draft of the new plan can be submitted by individuals, institutions, and city districts from June 27 to July 26. Suggestions from city districts have the status of so-called fundamental comments, which must be discussed separately by the council. Comments from individuals and companies will be approved collectively by the councilors, considering their number.

The zoning plan is a key document that determines where construction is allowed in the city and to what extent. In the past, there have been disputes surrounding the new plan, which led to the dismissal of Petr Hlaváček from the head of the Institute of Planning and Development of the capital city, as well as temporarily the main author of the new plan, Roman Koucký. Ultimately, he returned to head the team preparing the plan after winning the selection process. However, preparations have been delayed, for which the leadership of Prague has been criticized by the opposition. It was originally supposed to be in effect as of 2020, but the council extended the deadline by three years. Even so, it is uncertain whether the document will be completed by the new deadline.
