Rožnov pod Radhoštěm - Rožnov pod Radhoštěm in the Vsetín region has received a fifty million euro grant for the construction of a cultural center. The spokesperson for the Rožnov town hall, Petra Graclíková, announced this to the Czech Press Agency today. The estimated cost of the construction is 203 million crowns including VAT.
The grant is intended for the passive standard of the building, which will meet strict energy-saving criteria. "We have been waiting a really long time for this news. From the intermediary, we learned that as a city we have obtained a grant for the passive standard of the building amounting to 50 million including VAT. It is another piece of the mosaic that we are gradually putting together. The final goal is to build a cultural center," said Mayor Radim Holiš (ANO).
The city is currently selecting a construction contractor, and the public tender should be evaluated by the end of May. "The city council will be convened on June 30, and by then we will have prepared all the materials so that we are ready for the decision of the city council," Holiš noted.
The construction is planned for 16 months, starting on July 1. "We started planning the construction of the cultural center five years ago and had the task of looking for grants for its construction. The grant for the passive standard of the building was practically the only one that could bring a larger volume of money. There were many opponents to building a cultural center with a passive energy standard. I am very glad that we did not back down and continued in this direction. Now the 50 million crowns will help cover the construction costs, and at the same time, we will have a modern public building in the city that will set an example for others in meeting energy requirements," said Deputy Mayor Jan Kučera (Independent Rožnov Residents).
The city, with 16,000 inhabitants, intends to invest a record 281 million crowns this year, with the largest project being the construction of a multipurpose cultural center. Last year, the city had allocated 105 million crowns for investments in its budget.
