Brno - Construction work on the modifications of the Brno forecourt has been completed a month ahead of schedule. After nearly six years, the railing that prevented people from crossing directly from the tram to the train station hall has been removed. The city also had the railing towards the Letmo department store removed. The renovation has resulted in the elimination of several barriers that complicated access, particularly for wheelchair users. The roadway around Letmo is now at the same level as the sidewalks, creating a pedestrian zone. Thanks to the new traffic signage, there has been a significant decrease in cars passing around the tram islands.

The city paid more than 11 million crowns for the transformation of an area that many people had previously labeled as one of the worst in the city. To reduce car traffic, the city created a pedestrian zone along Letmo, allowing only service traffic to enter. On the opposite side along the station building, driving is still permitted, but drivers can only proceed further under the viaduct and are not allowed to turn left into Benešova Street. Drivers are gradually becoming accustomed to the new signage, and police officers are monitoring compliance with regulations on a random basis, said police spokesman Petr Vala to ČTK.

The city council has been striving to limit traffic in front of the station since 2017, at which time the ODS was in opposition. In the autumn of 2018, the Civic Democrats took over the city's leadership and canceled the plan, only to return to it last year before the next municipal elections. They practically just revived the previously canceled project.

Dozens of thousands of people move through the forecourt every day, as it is a public transport hub. Eight tram lines pass through here, and two trolleybus lines and an airport bus line have their starting stops here. All night bus lines depart from the forecourt at night. Pedestrian traffic is completely dominant here.
