Brno - Students of fine arts will transform the underpass beneath Brno's main train station into a gallery. In this uninviting space, they will create several large-format works directly in front of the eyes of passersby, placed on panels. The goal is to enhance the place through which tens of thousands of people pass daily, stated Jitka Vanýsková, spokesperson for the Brno University of Technology (VUT).

The underpass is one of the main communication arteries in Brno, connecting the historical core of the city with its southern part, as well as the railway station with the bus station.
The first large-format works will be created next week by students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at VUT together with their colleagues from a partner art school in Barcelona. The opening will be on Thursday afternoon. The artists plan to change the works in the gallery named Myšina every two or three months. The next collection will be created on the same surfaces by authors selected by a professional jury.
The students obtained funds for artistic supplies through a May auction of art pieces by their teacher, painter Petr Kvíčala. The auction raised nearly 130,000 crowns. The project of the new gallery was also supported by the city of Brno and the local council of the Brno-střed district.
