Olomouc – The development group Redstone has obtained an affirmative environmental statement from the regional office for the construction of student dormitories in the vicinity of the historic center of Olomouc and the main campus of Palacký University (UP). Redstone November can thus continue with the preparation of the project, which plans to create 237 accommodation units with 985 beds. CTK today received this information from the decision of the regional office.
Redstone intends to build the student dormitories on land next to the Sokol sports complex. "The residence will offer housing in greenery with a passage through the inner block, an underground parking lot, and services directly on the ground floor. The project also opens up a previously closed area and sensitively integrates part of the historic city fortifications. We are currently fine-tuning the technical details and are approaching the discussion of the project documentation," stated Redstone.
Approximately 23,000 students are studying at UP, which translates to more than one-fifth of the city's population. The university dormitories have a capacity of about 4,700 places. Due to high demand, many students must choose more expensive private housing each year.
The development group Redstone, led by entrepreneur Richard Morávek, focuses mainly on Prague, Olomouc, and Pardubice. In Olomouc, it has built the shopping center Galerie Šantovka, the administrative building Envelopa Office Center, and the long-term care medical facility Senatorium.
