Poděbrady

Poděbrady - A new music pavilion will be built in the central park of Poděbrady. Construction was supposed to start a month ago, but due to a complaint from one of the construction participants, it had to be postponed. The project will cost six to eight million crowns, and it is expected to be completed by the end of April next year. The mayor of Poděbrady, Ladislav Langr, said this to ČTK today.

"One of the participants in the construction complained that the music disturbs him in his garden," Langr stated. According to him, the complaint is paradoxical, as the city is replacing an unsightly mobile music stage with the pavilion. The Central Bohemian Region, to which the complaint was submitted, rejected it at the end of last week. "Tomorrow at the city council, we will approve the proposal and put out a tender for the contractor of the pavilion," Langr added.

The city wants to start construction by the end of the year, and the pavilion will be made available to the public with the new spa season next year. In addition to the pavilion, the project will also include other park modifications.

The Libenský colonnade in Poděbrady was built in the 1930s according to the design of architect Vojtěch Kerhart. It is one of more than twenty cultural monuments in the city.
