Poděbrady - The construction of a music gazebo in the central park, which Poděbrady in Nymburk has been planning since last summer, has once again been postponed. The original plans anticipated the start of construction in the fall of last year, and the next deadline was this spring. However, due to the necessity to move the gazebo six meters elsewhere, the start date has changed again, and it is now scheduled to begin this fall. Poděbrady Mayor Ladislav Langr (Choice for Poděbrady) told ČTK today.
The new music gazebo is expected to cost over six million crowns, replacing the unsightly mobile stage that is currently in the central spa park. According to the mayor, all spa towns have music gazebos. They are often one of the hallmarks of the town and centers of culture.
Last year, one participant in the construction proceedings appealed against the construction, justifying it by stating that the music would disturb him in his garden. The Central Bohemian Region, to which the appeal was submitted, rejected the complaint in mid-September. The original plans had anticipated starting the construction by the end of this year and opening the gazebo before the upcoming spa season. The city has not yet selected a contractor for the construction, so the exact cost of the project is not known. "We do not understand why the party involved appealed, as the music is still playing there," commented Langr on the matter.
Due to unsuitable weather, the city ultimately decided to move the start of work to this spring. According to the mayor, there was a risk that it might not be possible to start construction even in the spring. "We need to have the construction, including surrounding modifications, completed before the start of the spa season, that is, by April 30," Langr told ČTK earlier. His concerns have ultimately been realized, as it is necessary to shift the entire construction six meters elsewhere. "The music gazebo, by agreement of all parties, must be moved axially about six meters. Therefore, the building proceedings are currently being clarified," Langr said. He hopes that this fall the matter will be successfully resolved and work can begin.
The Liben Columnade in Poděbrady was created in the 1930s according to the design of architect Vojtěch Kerhart. It is one of more than twenty cultural monuments in the city.
