Poděbrady - The planned music gazebo in the central spa park in Poděbrady will not be built. The new city leadership does not like the project of the former city council, so they are putting it on hold. According to the new mayor Jaroslav Červinka (STAN), a mobile music stage will have better use in the park, he told ČTK.

According to Červinka, the gazebo would only be used during the spa season; for the rest of the year, it would be abandoned. Therefore, a mobile stage would allow people to enjoy the entire park off-season, as it can be dismantled for the winter. Moreover, it is easier to replace it during the summers, while a permanent gazebo would wear out over time and repairs would incur additional costs.

According to the project, the gazebo was supposed to cost about 5.5 million crowns. The city tried several times to tender a contractor, but no interested parties applied for the bids. In the last competition, a company did apply, but they offered to build the gazebo for nine million crowns.

The music gazebo, according to former mayor Ladislav Langr, was supposed to replace the unsightly mobile stage, and similar gazebos, according to him, can be found in other spa towns.
