Poděbrady - A new music gazebo, which will be built in the central park in Poděbrady, will start construction with a delay. The construction was supposed to begin in August, but due to a complaint from a resident, its start has been postponed. According to the mayor of Poděbrady, Ladislav Langr, the construction will most likely begin next year due to unpredictable winter weather.

"We are considering whether it makes sense to start something in this weather. It bothers me immensely,"
Langr told ČTK today. According to him, there is no point in rushing the construction and having just a fenced pit remaining in the park throughout the winter. He warned of the risk that construction might not even be possible to start in the spring. "We need to have the construction, including surrounding modifications, completed before the start of the spa season, which is by April 30. If we can’t manage that, we will have to postpone everything until autumn," Langr stated. The new gazebo will replace the current unsightly mobile music stage.

One of the participants has appealed against the construction, claiming that the music would disturb him in his garden. The Central Bohemian Region, to which the appeal was submitted, rejected the complaint in mid-September. Originally, the plans anticipated the start of construction by the end of this year and the opening of the gazebo before the upcoming spa season. The city has not yet selected a contractor for the construction, so the exact price of the project is not known.

The Libenského colonnade in Poděbrady was created in the 1930s according to the design of architect Vojtěch Kerhart. It is one of more than twenty cultural monuments in the city.
