Hradec Králové - The construction of a new football stadium in Hradec Králové for a maximum of 400 million crowns could start next February. The construction has already received a definitive zoning decision, and work is currently underway to obtain a building permit. Jindřich Vedlich (TOP 09), the deputy mayor of Hradec Králové, said this to ČTK today. The city’s first league club FC Hradec Králové plays at the stadium and has facilities there.

According to Vedlich, the designer is now preparing documentation for the building permit. "We want to obtain it as soon as possible, followed by the selection of the contractor for the construction. We expect that construction could begin around February 2018," said Vedlich. According to him, the construction will take approximately a year, and the operation of the stadium will not need to be interrupted during the construction.

Construction work should begin with the construction of the western grandstand, which is considered the most important according to the football association. "The first action should be the demolition of the western grandstand and parts of the side mounds, which could begin as early as this autumn. The eastern grandstand can operate independently," said Vedlich, who stated that the demolition work should cost around 15 million crowns.

The new football arena is set to have a capacity of nearly 10,000 seated spectators, while the current multi-sport stadium from 1960 is designed for seven thousand spectators. The most prominent structure will be the western grandstand, which will be built in place of the current earthen grandstand. It will include facilities for players, media and VIP spaces, glass boxes with amenities, offices for the football club, a fanshop, and a commentator's station. The characteristic lighting of the playing field with four so-called 'licks' will also be preserved, albeit in a modernized form.
