Adamov (Blanensko) - The renovated tall furnace Františka near Adamov in Blanensko will be opened to the public this weekend, which was commissioned by Prince Jan Adam of Liechtenstein in 1732. The reconstruction of the interior of this massive structure cost approximately two million crowns. Until now, only the outdoor balcony has been accessible, offering a view of the picturesque Josefovské Valley in the Moravian Karst. Newly, the interior balcony of the furnace will also be accessible, Ondřej Metra from the Brno Technical Museum, which manages the monument, told ČTK today. Františka is part of the National Technical Reserve Stará huť. The ten-meter stone structure was once used for processing iron ore. It is now a tourist attraction also serving as a viewpoint. Its repairs focused on the interior part, where there was loose masonry. The reconstruction lasted almost five months. The tall furnace was established in a place where the ancient Slavs processed iron ore. Františka likely ceased operations in 1871. The structure then fell into disrepair. However, it was later successfully restored to its original appearance. 35 years ago, it became the oldest technical monument reserve in the territory of the Czech Republic.
