Brno – Today, the Memory of the Nation Institute will be ceremonially opened in Brno with an exhibition titled Silent Heroism. The exhibition recounts dramatic stories from the period of World War II and the harshest communist repressions in the 1950s. The opening ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS), Brno Mayor Markéta Vaňková (ODS), and South Moravian Governor Jan Grolich (KDU-ČSL).

The exhibition will take visitors among partisans, anti-Nazi resistance fighters, into the mines of Jáchymov, and into communist interrogation rooms. The life stories of four lesser-known Czech heroes have been selected by the creators from over 10,000 interviews from the Memory of the Nation collection. The exhibition utilizes audio and visual materials, special projection chambers, augmented reality, and interactive screens.

The Memory of the Nation Institute in Brno also operates a café on Radnická Street. It hosts regular lectures, discussions, author readings, screenings, temporary exhibitions, a theater group, and other cultural programs.
