Telč – At the Štěpnický pond in Telč, a four-ton wire sculpture of a dog named Vulpes Gott has been installed today. An hour before noon, it arrived secured with straps on a truck from Zlín. Workers mounted it on the dam of the pond with the help of a crane under the supervision of the artwork's author, František Skála. The installation of the sculpture is the first event of Skála's upcoming exhibition "pictures and ...", which will take place at the Municipal Gallery Hasičský dům from August 5 to January 3.

The artwork is located at Na Baště street, which tourists take to the historic square of Zachariáš from Hradec. How long the wire dog will stay in Telč remains to be seen, Skála said. "For the duration of my exhibition, maybe longer. In any case, it feels very good here," he told ČTK. Before that, he attached a large ear to the sculpture with the help of curator David Bartoň, which had to be removed for transport.

The sculpture, created in 2022, measures about seven meters in length. "This is probably the largest sculpture we have ever had here," said Telč's deputy mayor Jiří Pykal (Together for Telč – Pirates and Greens). Transporting the work to the pond's dam was not simple. "We have a large elevation here, there is a tree, and a lot of people moving around," he noted.

In full, Vulpes Gott Dratoslav von Mischling represents, according to the author, a monument to endangered, overlooked, and marginalized beings – antiheroes standing at the edge of society. Besides Zlín, it has already been in Dresden and Liberec.

At the Municipal Gallery Hasičský dům, according to the curator, there will be exhibited paintings that Skála painted under the influence of primitive Australian art and original clay. At the opening on August 5, the artist will perform with a guitar. A new documentary about this artist, performer, and musician, Public Space of František Skála, which also documents the creation of the monumental dog sculpture, will be screened in Telč on August 14. Skála will then perform with his band Třaskavá směs at the Holidays in Telč festival.
