Bruntál - The repaired castle park was opened today in Bruntál. After reconstruction, the walls of the ramparts and the fencing, the bastion with the staircase, as well as the paths and paved areas, have been completed. The park has new greenery, and it also features a pond. A walking circuit suitable for visitors with limited mobility or families with strollers has also been created. This was announced to journalists today by the Deputy Governor for Culture and Heritage Care, Lukáš Curylo (KDU-ČSL).
"Bruntál Castle is owned by the Moravian-Silesian Region and was included in the list of national cultural monuments nearly 20 years ago. I am therefore very pleased that we are able to take proper care of it. The recently completed modernization of the complex and revitalization of the park is another stage in the extensive reconstruction of this amazing monument and follows the recently restored sala terrena (garden hall)," Curylo stated.
Visitors can view four new sculptures from the summer sculpture symposium. Part of the costs for the repairs to the park was covered through a cross-border project, which also included an artistic competition for sculptors from the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
"The selected four finalists created sandstone abstract sculptures right in front of the façade of Bruntál Castle. They were made by two Czech and two Slovak artists according to their designs previously approved by the jury," said the Deputy Governor for Regional Development and Tourism, Jan Krkoška (ANO). The region had 10.3 million crowns available from European funds, which were used for the park's repairs and the organization of the international sculpture symposium. The total cost of the castle's repairs amounted to 28.8 million crowns.
