Olomouc - The former municipal brewery in the historical center of Olomouc will undergo reconstruction after years. Its owner, the Měšťanský pivovar Olomouc company, a member of the PROSPERITA holding financial group, will build about two dozen atypical apartments and commercial spaces in this baroque building. According to the company's information, the investment will require more than 100 million crowns. The former brewery, which also served as a warehouse in the past, has not been used for more than the last ten years. The chairman of the board of KF Development from the PROSPERITA holding financial group, Jiří Felix, told ČTK that the owner will likely begin reconstruction of the building in the middle of next year. It should be completed by the end of 2012. "The project will feature approximately 20 loft and mezzanine apartments with sizes ranging from 60 to over 200 square meters," said the chairman of the developer's board. Regarding the pricing of the apartments, he noted that it has not yet been precisely determined. However, it is expected to exceed 50,000 crowns per square meter. According to Petr Korytar, director of the Hanácká real estate agency in Olomouc, the average price of new apartments in the regional capital currently ranges from 25,000 to 28,000 crowns per square meter. "The offer of loft apartments in city centers is truly unique. Therefore, we are not afraid of apartment sales," Felix said. According to Korytar, interest in them will depend, among other things, on the upcoming development of the Czech economy. "It is indeed uncertain whether there will be any problems with sales. This is also related to other planned housing construction projects in the city," stated the director of the Hanácká real estate agency. In the Olomouc region, the number of initiated and completed apartments fell year-on-year in the first half of the year. A total of 790 apartments were approved, which is 21.6 percent less than in the same period last year. The number of initiated apartments decreased even more significantly, by 45.4 percent to 571.
