České Budějovice - The former freezing plant area near the Budvar arena in České Budějovice will be transformed into a multifunctional center with shops, restaurants, and offices by November next year. The construction of a building with a total area of 26,400 square meters will cost approximately three-quarters of a billion crowns. Karl-Heinz Grieger from the investment company Nova Projekt told journalists today. The six-story building near the center will also create 135 parking spaces that are currently lacking in the area. Part of the center will become the headquarters of E.ON Czech Republic after its completion, which has leased office space here for ten years. Around 600 employees of the company will work there. The city council supports the construction. The center will help architecturally resolve part of the ice hockey stadium where the spectator stands are located. "The city supported the project for other reasons as well. The structurally outdated freezing plant, which spoiled the entrance to the historic center, has disappeared along with six tons of hazardous ammonia," said Deputy Mayor Juraj Thoma. Opposite the commercial-administrative complex, a new parking garage should also be built next year. The building, costing around 150 million crowns, will offer parking for approximately 500 cars.
