A sports hall is opening in Černošice

Černošice (near Prague) - The residents of Černošice will open a new sports hall on Thursday. It cost approximately 53 million crowns, of which ten million were paid by donors, over thirty million came from state grants, and the rest was covered by the town. It will serve the school and athletes, featuring a wooden floor, seating for over 180 spectators, and a large screen. This was announced today by Mayor Filip Kořínek (Černošice Matters).

In addition to physical education classes, sports training, and competitions, the town plans to use the hall as a multipurpose space for screenings, school celebrations, social events, and concerts.

The hall, featuring a glass front façade, was designed by architect Peter Sticzay. "Metal slats prevent direct sunlight from penetrating, lending a unique character to the appearance of the hall and harmonizing in color with the surrounding buildings," the mayor stated.

In the lobby of the hall, there are rotating glass tubes filled with hand-painted pebbles that local residents brought in last February as part of a happening. According to Kořínek, the project is now much more for the town than just a building made of concrete, wood, and glass. "It is a warm symbol of the strength and positive approach of the Černošice civic community," he added.

The ceremonial opening of the building will take place on Thursday at 5:00 PM, and its patron is Věra Čáslavská, a seven-time Olympic champion and resident of Černošice.
