Most – In Most, the reconstruction of the Střed Park near the sports hall, which has been deteriorating for years, is starting. The aim is to bring visitors back to the park. Artistic works will be preserved, and trees will be cut down minimally. The park will be open to the public in September 2023, the city informed on its website.

The city leadership has now signed a contract with the contractor, Gardenline, which won the tender. According to the contract published in the registry, the value of the project without VAT is 83.8 million crowns. The city is collaborating with the Proměny Foundation on the restoration.

The park covers an area of over 52 square meters. A public opinion survey was conducted before the redevelopment, in which people stated what they wanted in the park. The project documentation was completed by the city at the end of last year. The area will be adjusted according to the design by teams of architects and landscape architects around Till Rehwaldt and Patrik Hoffman, who won the architectural competition.

The park is designed to require low financial and time demands for maintenance. "I believe we will manage to transform the park into a popular place, as it used to be. By partially restoring the original water features, we will surely bring joy to those who remember the past and seniors; families with children, athletes, culture lovers, and good coffee enthusiasts will also find their place in the park. The winning solution of the architects, with which they succeeded in the architectural competition, also addresses the risk of vandalism and how we can manage to maintain the park's operations in the future," stated Mayor Jan Paparega (ProMOST).

An important part of the proposal is the management of rainwater. Experts will first attend to the trees, then the non-functional surfaces and pools will be demolished. This will be followed by the construction of new facilities, paths, water features, and landscaping. The park will be illuminated and furnished with amenities such as benches, a stage, sports facilities, a gym for seniors, or a caretaker's home. The cornerstone of the Rebirth of Střed Park will be ceremonially laid on June 22. Interested parties can take a virtual tour on the Proměny Foundation's Facebook page, which supported the project with 25 million crowns.
