The Christian-oriented organization Maranatha officially opened a new prayer hall and Community Center in Sedlčany on January 23, 2020.
The prayer hall is constructed with a reinforced concrete shell structure and a lightweight outer shell made of aluminum mesh and glass facade. The atmosphere of the building's interior is based on a combination of white surfaces of the floor, walls, and ceiling with wood. A prominent feature in the main hall of the prayer hall is the baptistery for immersion baptism by sculptor Jaroslava Kadlecová. The second building is a residential building with four residential units on the upper part and one commercial unit along with space for the Community Center on the ground floor of the building. The Community Center will primarily serve spiritual purposes and related events. The project's investor is the organization Maranatha, and the architectural design of both buildings is by the architectural office A8000 s.r.o.
"The prayer hall will primarily be used for events organized by the local community of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, especially for regular Saturday services. For example, in the coming days, a lecture cycle titled Jesus Your Hope with biblical themes is planned, starting on January 31 and concluding on March 7. We are also preparing activities in the adjacent Community Center for the public, such as English classes for beginners and advanced learners, health and educational lectures, or events for families with children. The nearest organized event, from January 27 to 31, called Smoking Cessation Treatment, is intended for everyone who would like to overcome any addiction. Our main goal is for all activities held in the new buildings to guide visitors towards finding a relationship with Jesus Christ, who changed my life as well," says Radim Passer, founder of the organization Maranatha, about the project.
"The composition of the prayer hall building is based on three fundamental principles: A line representing the solid crystalline essence of the world, matter. A curve as a soft organic element, life. And direction upward to the sky, expressing the spiritual dimension of existence," add the authors from the architectural office A8000.
The buildings create a natural transition between the historical block structure of the city and the relaxed development of the surrounding residential buildings. The residential building completes the line of the street towards the hospital. The standalone prayer hall building orients the composition of the new urban park towards the city.
