Brno - In Brno, construction of a parking garage for 110 cars will begin on Vojtova Street in June. It is intended for commuters who will leave their cars at the edge of the city and continue by public transport or possibly by bicycle. The construction, costing almost 43 million crowns, is expected to be completed next July, as stated in a press release by the spokesperson of the city company Brněnské komunikace, Vladimíra Navrátilová. The existing parking lot on the site of the future construction will be available until the end of May.

The parking garage will have four floors and will match the height of the surrounding buildings. The ground floor will have designated spaces for wheelchair users or other mobility-impaired individuals, as well as for parents with strollers. Unlike many other garages, it will also allow gas-powered cars to park on the roof of the parking garage.

Trams run within walking distance, with a stop located 150 meters from the parking garage, and there is also a bus stop near the Rondo hall. The parking fees have not yet been determined.

The parking garage will also accommodate bicycles, with 25 spots at the racks. People can thus arrive in Brno by car and continue on by bike.

In the last ten years, parking garages have been built on the outskirts of the historic center of Brno, and since the introduction of the resident parking system, they are very much utilized. However, there are currently no parking garages at the edge of the city where commuters would leave their cars. There are only two P+R parking lots, one near the Central Cemetery and the other in the former Zetor complex in Líšeň.
