In Zlín, the construction of the Educational Complex by Jiřičná will begin

Zlín - The closure of access to several schools on Štefánikova Street in the center of Zlín is necessitated by the upcoming commencement of construction of the Educational Complex of Tomas Bata University (UTB). The city council expects traffic complications on the busy road, where queues typically form in the mornings. Therefore, especially for parents dropping off their children at school, parking options around the schools have been adjusted. This was stated today by Zdeněk Dvořák, spokesman for the Zlín City Hall. Police will supervise the traffic.

Starting Monday, it will not be possible to drive up to the 1st and 9th elementary schools, the Secondary School of Gastronomy and Commerce, and the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of UTB, all located on Štefánikova Street. However, the turn from the main busy road could be blocked by cars if the prohibition is not respected. "We will accommodate them (the parents note by the editor) in that they will be able to stop for free until eight in the morning at the municipal parking lot on Hradská Street, from which they can also take their children to school," said Deputy Mayor Kateřina Francová (STAN). Previously, parking on Hradská Street was free only until seven o'clock.

The city hall also asks parents not to stop in the bus stop bays on Štefánikova Street. "Those are completely unsuitable for dropping off schoolchildren and children would be exposed to danger. The Police of the Czech Republic will oversee adherence to the no stopping regulation in the bus stop bays from Monday," Dvořák pointed out. Children can also use public transport to get to school. "At the Školní stop on Štefánikova Street, 49 connections will stop every working day from seven to eight o'clock," the spokesman added.

The UTB Educational Complex will be dedicated to teaching primarily humanities subjects. The selection process for the construction contractor has been prolonged; the university had planned to begin construction much earlier. The project was designed by architect Eva Jiřičná, who also designed the Congress and University Center located nearby. The university plans to hold a ceremonial groundbreaking with Jiřičná in early December. The Educational Complex consists of two parallel buildings connected by a central ground-floor section.
