Prague - Librarians from across the Czech Republic will today bring the foundation stones for the construction of the new National Library building to Prague. In Letná, where the new building is planned to be located, a meeting of librarians called Nation for Itself II will take place on this occasion.

From historically or otherwise significant sites in the Czech Republic, stones will be brought, such as a 100,000-year-old mineral from Karlovy Vary, a stone from Stadice, the alleged birthplace of the mythical Přemysl the Plowman, a stone from Mount Říp, and many others.
The stones will then be placed at the library's headquarters in Klementinum. Once construction of the new building begins, they will be transferred back to Letná and will be laid in the building's foundations. According to librarians, the stones are meant to express the mutual cohesion of libraries and their relationship to the National Library, which desires to have the new building completed by 2010.
