Prague - The government will discuss on Wednesday the announcement of a public tender for the construction of the National Institute of Mental Health (NÚDV). It is to be built in Klecany near Prague for more than 470 million crowns excluding VAT, with funding from the EU. This follows from the materials that the Minister of Education will present to the government and which CTK has available. The project is already delayed, but the announcement of the tender must be approved by the cabinet because it concerns a so-called significant public contract.

The only evaluation criterion will be the offered price, while the quality of the work to be performed will be ensured by the conditions set in the contract. The expected deadline for completion of the contract is June 2014.
The International Center for Clinical Research in Neuropsychiatry is to function both as a clinic and as a scientific facility. The Psychiatric Center Prague should be transferred to Klecany, which is expected to double the number of specialists in neuropsychological disorders by 2015. By that time, the center should also produce its first scientific results.
The new three-story building with a total built-up area of 4,500 square meters will offer three inpatient departments with a capacity of 55 beds, three day care centers, and outpatient clinics, including a therapy and rehabilitation department. The research part will consist of biochemical laboratories with an animal facility and neuropsychological research workplaces. The center will also include educational spaces.
The project is funded by the Research and Development for Innovation program. The head of the Psychiatric Center, Cyril Höschl, already indicated last year that the project is nearly two years behind schedule due to changes at the Ministry of Education. Experts have long criticized that despite the increasing number of patients with mental health problems, depression, or Alzheimer's disease, psychiatry remains on the fringes of interest.
