Karlovy Vary - A working group of the Karlovy Vary magistrate recommended repairing the current Vřídelní colonnade in the city and preparing an architectural study for the construction of a new colonnade and the utilization of the entire area. The decision will be made by the Karlovy Vary councilors; the working team was to assess the options, said the mayor of the city, Petr Kulhánek (KOA), to ČTK.

"The working group presented a prepared material to the councilors that includes all the starting points and options for further steps, including financial and time evaluations. There will still be discussions among the council groups about this study, so they can discuss all options and agree on the next steps, which should be approved by the December council meeting,"
Kulhánek stated.

According to him, the main recommendation of the study is to repair the current colonnade. "So that the current structure can continue to serve," he added.

Currently, Karlovy Vary is preparing the relocation of the krenotechnology, which removes carbon dioxide from the spring water. "A building permit has been issued for this, but one of the applicants appealed in the competition, so we are waiting for the resolution of the objections," added the mayor's deputy, Čestmír Bruštík (ind.).

The current colonnade from the 1970s is in a state of disrepair. The repair of the ceiling above the former spring of Vřídlo and the underground below the colonnade is expected to cost around 30 to 35 million crowns. However, it will depend on the condition of the structure, which will only be clear once it is uncovered.
