Brno - Building a new ambulance service base in Bystrc or expanding the Anthropos pavilion in Pisárky will be made possible by the land transfers approved by the city's council on Wednesday. They want to donate the land for the health workers’ base to the South Moravian Region, which establishes the ambulance service. The land near Anthropos is planned to be sold to the Moravian Museum, which is preparing a reconstruction there for approximately 350 million crowns. However, the organization under the Ministry of Culture does not yet have the funds for it. This was stated today by the museum's deputy director Barbora Onderková.

The museum could acquire land worth over 12 million crowns. "The council's decision brings us closer to the planned reconstruction and expansion. We have a study for the reconstruction of the pavilion, but the Ministry of Culture has not yet approved the funds for the project," said Onderková. Nevertheless, they are pursuing the land, she added. Its transfer still has to be approved by the representatives.

The council further approved that the city would donate some lands or their parts in Bystrc to the South Moravian Region, enabling the establishment of a new ambulance service station there. "Given the demographic development, new construction, and the increasing need for medical care, it is essential to set up new facilities of this type in the area. Bystrc is a suitable location not only because of its proximity to the Brno dam and the D1 highway but also due to the rapid development of the surrounding city districts," stated councilor Jiří Oliva (SOCDEM).

The reason for building the twenty-fifth ambulance station is also the fact that, especially in Brno, the capacity for providing pre-hospital emergency care is insufficient. The ambulance service director Hana Albrechtová previously told ČTK that the long-term increase in the number of missions recorded in South Moravia is particularly straining the response teams in Brno.

From the region's perspective, the plan to build a new station is at the very beginning. "Once we have the land in our possession, we will start preparing the project, including searching for financial resources, designing, and so on," said Martina Žídková from the press department of the regional authority.
