Dear colleagues,
in connection with the upcoming 18th General Assembly of the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA), we would like to ask for your support for our initiative and for the candidates nominated to the chamber's bodies.
We are broadly presenting a group of architects who started practicing after 1989. Prompted by the case of the contract assignment of the Cybernetics Institute of the Czech Technical University in Prague, we initiated a discussion about the current state of public procurement and architecture, which led to the establishment of the initiative "Against Corruption," based on which we defined the goals of our efforts.
At the same time, we are aware that if we have achieved success in our work, we owe it largely to the ČKA, which created conditions for the employment of young architects by organizing open architectural competitions at the time of our beginnings. We believe that now is the time to give this service back to society. As a middle generation of architects, we find ourselves at the intersection of experience and vitality. For this reason, we would like to offer the ČKA our time and energy at this moment.
We proposed the establishment of the ČKA working group "Against Corruption" in the agenda of the General Assembly, and we are nominating representatives Petr Lešek, Josef Smutný, Martin Tomáš, and Petr Janda to the chamber's board.
Through this engagement, we would like to bring new energy to the ČKA. We will orient our activities within the chamber primarily towards preventing manipulative public procurement assignments, supporting the chamber in promoting architectural competitions, raising the visibility of the field in society, advocating for the right to work as an architect, and ensuring access to contracts for emerging architects.
We ask those of you who perceive the matter similarly to participate in the voting of the General Assembly on Saturday, April 16, at the new building of the Faculty of Architecture and support our effort.
Thank you
