Sychrov - The former castle hotel Sychrov on the edge of the Czech Paradise is likely to be transformed this year into a home for the elderly with a capacity of 72 beds. The company Regal estate from the SYNER Group (previously S group) sold the premises to DS Sychrov. This was announced today in a press release by Syner spokesperson Ondřej Paclt. The transaction price has not been disclosed by either party.

The Liberec Region also considered purchasing the premises this year, intending to convert it into a home for the elderly. Based on an expert assessment, they offered roughly 40 to 45 million crowns, but Regal estate refused to sell it at that price.

The company DS Sychrov was established in May this year, half of it owned by the joint-stock company E9. The company is headed by Jiří Dušek, who built a network of homes under the brand Anavita. "The home for the elderly Sychrov represents a concept of quality living, along with social and health care in a beautiful location right next to Sychrov Castle," Dušek stated in the press release. According to him, the Anavita network specializes in clients who require continuous care due to deteriorating health, primarily individuals suffering from dementia.

The four-star castle hotel Sychrov with 86 beds opened in April 2007. The modern complex is located on the site of the former riding hall of the Rohans next to Sychrov Castle. The construction, which architecturally blends with the castle, cost more than 152 million crowns, with 64 million crowns contributed by a European program supporting tourism services. The hotel features 30 rooms and three suites. It includes a conference hall and wellness facilities.

For years, the hotel was operated by the EuroAgentur Hotels & Travel chain, but it has been closed since last autumn. The new owner aims to complete the change of use of the premises to a home for the elderly by autumn. "The first residents could move in before Christmas," added Paclt. The new owner has already launched a website with information for potential clients.

There is a shortage of beds for the elderly in the Liberec Region. According to statistics, there are nearly 1600, of which more than a thousand are for seniors and 650 in homes with special regimes. The availability of facilities in the Liberec Region lags behind others, with 259 residents per bed in homes for the elderly and homes with special regimes. "For example, in the Pardubice Region, there are 161 residents per bed, and in the Hradec Králové Region, 177," previously stated Pavel Svoboda (ČSSD), deputy governor of Liberec.
