Sychrov (Liberecko) - The new four-star hotel near the Sychrov State Castle is a modern building, yet it does not disrupt the neighboring neo-Gothic monument. This was stated by Miloš Kadlec, director of the Heritage Institute in the Liberec Region, after today's opening of the hotel with 85 beds and a conference hall for 120 people. "Originally, the designer wanted to build the hotel in a historical style, which we did not agree with. In the end, we agreed on modern architecture that fits better with the castle and its surroundings. The hotel’s shape is inspired by the original castle barn from the 19th century,” said Kadlec. The Castle Hotel was financially supported by the European Union and the Ministry for Regional Development from the SROP program. It cost more than 152 million crowns. The grant from the European program to support tourism services reached 64 million crowns. A condition for its allocation was the creation of at least 30 jobs and the use of alternative energy sources. The hotel currently employs 35 staff, and their number is expected to grow. The heating of the hotel and the heating of domestic hot water are provided by geothermal wells. According to its financial director Martin Bušínský, the four-star hotel will primarily focus on business people and foreign customers. A double room costs 4,400 crowns per night. Pavel Hlinka, president of the Association of Hotels and Restaurants in the Czech Republic, noted that the Castle Hotel has an exceptional location. It is located on the edge of the Bohemian Paradise in a quiet area. The expressway from Liberec to Prague runs just a few kilometers away. The growing interest in luxury accommodation is further evidenced by statistics. According to data from the Czech Statistical Office, last year 55,000 guests stayed in four-star hotels in the Liberec Region, including 28,500 foreigners. Compared to 2005, this is 55 percent more. As of today, four-star hotels in the Liberec Region offer approximately 1,800 beds.
