Vysoké Mýto (Orlickoústecko) - Within four years, 180 new apartments are to be built in Vysoké Mýto. A private investor will renovate the dilapidated municipal brewery, around which additional residential development will take place. Representatives of the company Nový pivovar, which is preparing the development project, informed journalists about this today.

"We want to preserve the original structure along with its industrial details, such as the brewery tower or the stone stairs. There are already enough newly built anonymous spaces in the country," said architect Josef Panna.
The municipal brewery dates back to the end of the 19th century. Its production phase, by then a distillery, ended in 1951. Until 1989, the former brewery served as warehouses for an agricultural company, which eventually went bankrupt.
"After that, the city tried to auction the building but was unsuccessful. Since then, it has been deteriorating. Now the brewery should finally receive a meaningful use," said Deputy Mayor František Jiraský.
The entire area, covering about ten hectares, is to serve residential purposes in the future. Additional apartment buildings and family homes are expected to be built there, Jiraský added.
The investor plans to construct the housing around the brewery in four phases. The total cost of the complex is currently estimated at 350 million crowns. Public spaces with services - shops, cafés, quiet zones with playgrounds and water features, and gardens are also planned. Cars are to park underground, and additional vehicles are to be parked around the residential development without entering the center at all. The complex is expected to offer luxury apartments, so-called lofts in the former brewery building, as well as housing that is normally affordable.
"We estimate that prices per square meter will range from 28,000 to 30,000 crowns, which is about ten to 15 percent less than in Pardubice," said Jana Chaloupková on behalf of the investor.
