Zlín - The Zlín city hall is revamping the area between the reconstructed Prior department store, the Great Cinema, and the Moskva hotel. The modifications concern the parking lot in front of the department store, the space in front of the hotel, and the adjoining sidewalks. During the celebrations of the anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia, 28 linden trees will also be planted here, reported Lukáš Fabián, a representative of the Zlín city hall, in a press release today.

The linden trees will be interconnected with branches. "Initially, we considered planting one hundred linden trees, but it would be difficult to find a space that large. Moreover, the number 28 also has its clear symbolism since Czechoslovakia was founded on October 28," said the mayor's deputy Bedřich Landsfeld (STAN).

A relaxation area with benches will be created. "Additionally, the new gravel surface will have built-in lighting, which will make the place stand out even in the dark," stated Fabián. The modification of the area will cost 3.5 million crowns.

The department store is being renovated by its owner, the Prior company. The building was constructed according to the design of architect František Lydie Gahura in the spirit of Zlín's functionalist architecture in 1932.
