We would like to invite you to the accompanying events of the exhibition KOTVY MÁJE / Czech Department Stores 1965-1975, which will take place this week at 4AM and in the lecture hall of the Trojka café. On Tuesday, October 2, at 6 PM, architectural historian Rostislav Švácha will meet for a discussion with architects Miroslav Masák and Růžena Žertová. On Thursday, October 4, at 8 PM, Slovak theorist Mária Topolčanská will give a lecture dedicated to the fight for the preservation of Bratislava's Prior.

The lecture and screening reflect the mysterious reality of the post-socialist city and the attempts of independent groups of architects, art historians, and civic activists to preserve the architectural type 'department store' that spread across Czechoslovakia in the 1960s, focusing on the unique Bratislava department store (now Tesco), the deteriorating Hotel Kyjev, and the public space of Kamenné námestie shaped by them (arch. I. Matusik, 1960-73).
